The 2009-2010 spring season is underway! As always,

The 2010 summer is in the books for both the IBF
girls and boys basketball teams. Both teams had an incredibly successful
summer and are back home preparing for the 2010-2011 school year.
Islandersbasketball.com will be your headquarters to keep track of how
the players are doing throughout their school season's, so make sure to
check back frequently!

IBF's boys team went 34-3 on the year and finished 2nd at the Center
Stage tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada to finish the season.

IBF's girls basketball teams combined to go 83-14 on the year and
finished 4-1 at Prime Time Nationals in Dallas, Texas to conclude the
summer.

Congratulations to Alexia Torres, who is
IBF's MVP for the week of May 30th!

Former IBF shooting guard Brandon Friedel participated in his final
collegiate game this past weekend. In the NABC D-II All-Star game
Friedel scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out three
assists. Way to play Brandon!

IBF held their first skills clinic ever this in Victoria,
Texas and
it was a major success. More clinics are being planned for the future,
so make sure to check back to

selected to the All-Academic and All-District 27-5A teams this

IBF would like to issue a special
congratulations to Grant Wilson, Mike Cantu, Cheyenne Berry and Brandon Friedel. Grant
(Tuloso Midway), Mike (Callalen), and Cheyenne Berry (Lytle) graduated from high school this past
week, while Brandon received his bachelor's degree in Professional
Studies at Arkansas Tech. IBF is very proud of their achievements and
recognizes them for their great accomplishments in the class room! IBF
will be doing features on what's next for each of them in the upcoming
weeks, so keep an eye out!

Former IBF assistant coach Adam Walsh has
become the head basketball coach at Centenary University! Walsh will be
making his head coaching debut in the 2010-2011 season. They are
currently in the process of putting together a schedule, but their
summer camp schedule is in place.

Former Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Seth Engelken talked at
the university this past week about tips for finding a career. Seth
stressed the importance of building relationships, mastering your field
of study, and forming a self-definition of success. Along with being an
assistant coach for IBF this summer Seth is a financial advisor for the
Planto Roe Firm in San Antonio, Texas.

Jean Lavergne has joined the IBF family
and taken over the girls program. This season she is fielding two teams,
12 & Under and 13 & Under. They are in the middle of a dominant first
season, picking up right where IBF's last girls team left off.

IBF's Tyler Korus was named to the All-District 31-2A team and was
also named the Most Valuable Player. Tyler will be playing in the
Coastal Bend All-Star game on March 26th, good luck Tyler and
congratulations!

IBF Guard Mike Cantu had a strong
senior campaign, averaging 17 points a contest while getting to play
